Adam Brema
47 years old
Adam “Puma” Brema, 47, was a Sudanese asylum seeker from Darfur who had lived in Israel for about 15 years. After fleeing war and the loss of his father and uncle, he built a life in Sderot, working as a cleaner for the municipality and local mall. Friends and aid organizations remembered Adam as big-hearted, generous and always willing to help other asylum seekers. He volunteered with HIAS Israel and dreamed of studying at Sapir Academic College and seeing his family again after nearly two decades apart. On October 7, Adam went outside after hearing gunfire to see whether he could help and was murdered in the street.
