Amar Abu Sabila

Amar Abu Sabila, 25, of Abu Talul, was a devoted husband and father of two young children who worked for a foundation-drilling company. On October 7, while trying to return home, he encountered Odia Swissa and her two young daughters after Odia’s husband had been shot. Rather than continue to safety, Amar stopped to help. When he realized Odia could not drive, he left his own vehicle and took the wheel of the family’s car, trying to get the mother and girls away from danger. Amar and Odia were killed near the Sderot police station, but the two little girls survived. He is remembered for choosing to help strangers in the midst of extraordinary danger.
