Avi Sassi

Avi Sassi, 64, was an Israeli-American who had lived in Los Angeles for about thirty years while remaining closely connected to his family in Israel. He returned to Israel for a family visit and attended the Nova festival with relatives. Avi was a father whose daughter remembered him as her hero from the day she was born. During the attack, that instinct to protect others remained central to who he was: his family said that in his final hours he helped save the lives of Danielle and Lee. He is remembered by his children and extended family as a beloved father and a courageous man who put other people’s safety before his own.
