Avner, 56, was born and raised in Kibbutz Nir Oz, where his parents were among the founders. A husband and father of four, he was remembered as talented in many fields — a man of writing, knowledge, wit and humor — and as an influential professional in the kibbutz’s accounting work. During the October 7 attack, he warned his daughter to enter her safe room before terrorists entered his own home.
