Avraham “Avi” Hovelashvili, 26, of Ashdod, was deputy commander of the Caracal Battalion, a career officer, husband and father. When reports of the Hamas invasion reached him at home on October 7, Avi immediately put on his uniform and headed south. He fought one terrorist cell at Sa’ad Junction, then continued toward his soldiers and encountered another group near Re’im, where he was killed in battle.
