Avshalom Yair Peretz, 27, of Netivot, was an officer in the elite Yamam counter-terrorism unit and was remembered by his family as their pride. Called to the front on October 7, Avshalom first tried to take his girlfriend, Shiraz Brodash, home to safety before joining the fighting. The couple were killed together near the Sha’ar Hanegev Junction before they could reach safety.
