Police Superintendent Dan Ganot was a commander from Harish who devoted time outside his police work to mentoring at-risk youth. On October 7, Dan entered Kibbutz Be’eri with fellow police officers and a civilian in armored vehicles, hoping to rescue residents trapped during the Hamas invasion. The group was ambushed almost immediately by terrorists using RPGs and gunfire. Dan was killed in the battle.
