Dimitri “Dima” Sorokin, 50, from Ashkelon, was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who had once played professional ice hockey in Russia. After moving to Israel in 1998, he worked for 21 years at a plastics factory in Sderot and was known as a reliable, hardworking colleague. On October 7, Dima finished an early shift and tried to drive home. Hamas gunmen ambushed and murdered him at Sha’ar HaNegev Junction.
