Gina Smiatich, 90, was a mother of three, grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 45 who had made Kibbutz Kissufim her home for more than six decades. A native of Chile, she immigrated to Israel as a young woman in 1957, met her husband Yaakov — one of Kissufim’s founders — and raised their family there. Gina worked in the kibbutz children’s house and later managed its small grocery store. Her grandson remembered that she had lived a full life. She was murdered in her home on October 7.
