Goytum Jabrahiwat

Goyitom “Gigi” Gebrehiyet, 40, was an Eritrean asylum seeker who had made his home in Sderot since 2008. Before leaving Eritrea he worked as a carpenter and car mechanic, and in Israel he worked as a welder. His younger brother remembered Gigi as the person who had cared for him after they lost their mother, describing him as someone who helped everyone and was like both a mother and father to him. On the morning of October 7, Gigi went out for a run in Sderot, unaware that terrorists had entered the city, and was murdered by Hamas gunmen on Herzl Street.
