Haim Livne, 87, was born in Argentina and prepared for aliyah by studying agriculture and Hebrew before moving to Israel at age 20 in 1956. He settled in Nahal Oz in 1966 and devoted decades to agriculture, experimenting with crops and helping pioneer the kibbutz’s seedless watermelons. Friends remembered his warmth, humor, ideological passion and deep love of the land. His granddaughter described him as endlessly energetic and adventurous even at 87. At his funeral, mourners received seedlings of his favorite flower so that something in his memory would continue to bloom.
