Hayim Yeshurun Katsman, 32, was an American-Israeli scholar, musician, gardener and peace activist living in Kibbutz Holit. He held a PhD in international studies and was remembered as modest, generous and endlessly curious. On October 7, Hayim hid with his neighbor Avital Alajem as Hamas terrorists entered the kibbutz. He shielded her with his body and was murdered, while she survived.
