Ilay Azar, 18, was a Gaza Division soldier and budding musician remembered as a star in the making. Stationed at the Re’im military base on October 7, he called his father as gunfire and chaos erupted. Despite being new to the base, Ilay joined the defense and focused on fighting and helping others. He was shot twice and killed while battling Hamas terrorists who had invaded the base.
