Israel Chana, 30, from Ofakim, worked as a private security guard for a bank and was remembered for his generosity, contagious laughter and willingness to help others. On the morning of October 7 — his 30th birthday — he was walking his dog with his girlfriend when the attack began. Armed with his personal weapon, Israel confronted Hamas terrorists infiltrating Ofakim and was killed in the fighting. Residents later told his family that his actions helped save an entire neighborhood.
