Itay Maor, 23, of Rosh Ha’ayin, was a Golani platoon commander who loved hiking with his siblings. When the October 7 invasion began, Itay led soldiers toward Netiv Ha’asara, where they helped stop a larger attack on the community. Heading back toward Zikim, his small force encountered another group of Hamas terrorists and Itay was killed in the firefight.
