Itzhak (Itzik) Balti

Itzhak “Itzik” Balti, 53, of Ofakim, was a devoted father and a man his family described as knowledgeable, capable and always prepared to help others. His daughter remembered that there was almost nothing he could not do, from mathematics and martial arts to cooking and sewing. Friends described him as smiling, modest and loving. When terrorists entered Ofakim on October 7, Itzik took his personal firearm and went into the streets, warning neighbors to lock themselves in their homes and shelters. He fought alongside others defending the city and was killed in the battle.
