Jana Roderman

48 years old

Ashkelon

Jana “Zhanna” Ruderman, 48, of Ashkelon, was a new immigrant from Belarus who loved Israel deeply and especially loved the sea. She spent her free time swimming, cycling and walking along Ashkelon’s promenade, often with her family. Her daughter remembered her as hardworking, warm, caring and always ready to help, while a friend said she had made aliyah less than a year earlier out of genuine Zionism. Zhanna was critically wounded in a Gaza rocket attack on Ashkelon and died of her wounds on October 17. She is survived by her husband and three children.
