Katerina “Katya” Tavgan Goldman, 26, of Holon, immigrated to Israel from Belarus with her family at age five. Gentle, sensitive and deeply compassionate, she loved literature, art and tennis and had a special devotion to animals. Katya rescued abandoned cats and dogs, raised money for their care and dreamed of opening a dog boarding home. After serving in the IDF as a truck driver, she lived abroad with her husband Matan and worked in Italy as a veterinary assistant. She later returned to Israel planning to study psychology. Friends remembered her courage, humor, generosity and extraordinary ability to see the good in people.
