Ofakim
Lyudmila “Luda” Furman, 78, of Ofakim, was born in a small Ukrainian village at the end of World War II. She began working at twelve to help her family and later fulfilled her dream of becoming a seamstress, eventually managing a sewing workshop and designing custom clothing. Luda immigrated to Israel to join her daughter and became deeply involved in raising her three grandchildren. Sociable, generous and energetic, she continued sewing from home, often refusing payment from soldiers and for small repairs. She loved cooking, gardening, swimming, exercise, travel and family gatherings, and especially enjoyed regular trips to the Dead Sea with friends.
