Maayana Hershkowitz, 65, was a longtime member of Kibbutz Be’eri who cared deeply about the future and security of Israel’s border communities. Years before October 7, she publicly urged Israelis outside the region not to remain indifferent to the dangers faced by families living near Gaza, calling on the government to pursue a clear path toward either peace or security. Maayana built her life in Be’eri with her husband, Noah. The couple were murdered in their home on October 7 together with Maayana’s mother, Shoshana.
