Matan Eckstein, 23, of Even Yehuda, was the beloved youngest son of Miri and Erez and brother to Maayan, Dana and Nir. A fourth-generation descendant of the town’s founders, he was remembered for his radiant smile, huge heart and determination to fill life with meaning. Matan loved the sea, taught children to surf and was preparing to study electrical engineering at Ben-Gurion University. During the attack on the Supernova festival, Matan and three close childhood friends confronted terrorists at a roadside shelter to draw fire away from those hiding inside. Their actions helped save other lives. Matan lived by the belief that every day was a dream come true.
