Na’ama Abu Rashed
14 hours old
Abu Qrenat / Abu Krinat, Negev
Na’ama Abu Rashed lived for just 14 hours, making her the youngest known victim of the October 7 attack.
On the morning of October 7, Na’ama’s mother, Sujood Abu Rashed, was nine months pregnant and traveling with her husband, Tripi, toward Soroka Medical Center when their vehicle came under gunfire. Sujood was shot in the abdomen and seriously wounded.
The couple managed to reach Soroka, where doctors performed an emergency delivery. Na’ama was born alive but had been gravely wounded before birth. Medical teams fought to save her, but she died later that day after living for only 14 hours. Her mother survived.
A year later, Sujood and Tripi returned to Soroka for the birth of another daughter. They named her Malak, meaning “angel.”
Na’ama’s life was extraordinarily brief, but she has a name and a place in the story of October 7. She is remembered here as a child whose life mattered.
May her memory forever be a blessing.
