Natalia Demidova, 39, from Odesa, Ukraine, was visiting Israel with her 12-year-old son, Mark, to spend the holiday period with her boyfriend, firefighter Shalom Tzaban. Natalia and Shalom had met several years earlier when he visited Ukraine, and she had since traveled to Israel several times. On October 7, the three left Sderot for Kiryat Gat as Shalom prepared to return for rescue operations. Hamas gunmen opened fire on their vehicle, killing Natalia and Shalom. Her son was wounded but escaped and survived.
