Oded, 83, was a longtime Kibbutz Nir Oz resident, retired journalist and lifelong peace activist. He spent decades writing and advocating on public issues and, together with his wife Yocheved, helped transport Palestinian patients from Gaza to Israeli hospitals for medical treatment. His life reflected a deep commitment to his community, journalism and coexistence.
Kidnapped alive on October 7 and slain in captivity; body returned February 2025
