Or Menashe Avital, 20, of Kibbutz Merom Golan, was an Armored Corps soldier who loved nature and dreamed of hiking the Israel Trail. On October 7, Or and his tank crew fought Hamas invaders for hours along the Gaza border before returning to the besieged Nahal Oz outpost. Their tank was struck by anti-tank missiles, and Or was killed alongside his commander while continuing to defend the base.
