Oron Bira, 52, was a Kibbutz Be’eri resident originally from Portugal. He and his wife, Yasmin, were the parents of Tahir, Tahel and their older son Yahav. Just a month before October 7, Oron and Yasmin had traveled to Portugal to secure Portuguese passports and apply for their children. During the Hamas attack on Be’eri, Oron remained in contact with relatives as terrorists tried to breach the family’s shelter. Oron, Yasmin, their daughters Tahir and Tahel, and Oron’s brother Tal were all murdered. Their son Yahav was the family’s sole survivor.
