Reuven Weisman, 57, of Ofakim, was a father of four and grandfather of two whose own father was killed in the Six Day War before Reuven was two years old. He grew up knowing the cost of war and built a family of his own. On October 7, Reuven told his children to hide in the backyard bomb shelter. Worried about terrorists in the neighborhood, he stepped outside carrying only a metal rod to watch over the area and protect his family. He was murdered beside his home. Reuven is remembered as a father and grandfather who placed his children’s safety before his own.
