Sakda Surakhai
32 years old
Sakda Surakhai, 32, came from Khai Bok Wan in Thailand’s Nong Khai province and worked as a farm laborer at Kibbutz Nir Oz. He was a father of two young children and had traveled far from home to earn money for his family. Sakda lived among a close community of Thai workers whose labor was part of the kibbutz’s agricultural life. On October 7, Nir Oz was overrun and Sakda was killed along with other Thai nationals. He is remembered not only as a foreign worker, but as a young father whose work in Israel was connected to the children and family waiting for him in Thailand.
