Shachar Zemach, 39, of Kibbutz Be’eri, was a peace activist and member of the kibbutz rapid-response security team. On October 7, he fought the Hamas invasion and helped defend Be’eri’s dental clinic, which had become an improvised treatment center for the wounded. After he and fellow defender Eitan Hadad ran out of ammunition, they retreated inside the clinic. Shachar was killed there while protecting the wounded and medical team.
