Kibbutz Kfar Aza
Shachaf Bergshtein, 33, of Kibbutz Kfar Aza, was a lifelong kibbutznik, hydraulic engineer and devoted athlete. He worked overseeing crop irrigation and loved soccer, basketball, yoga, beach paddleball and especially running. He even volunteered as a running guide for people with visual impairments. Friends remembered a caring uncle and dependable friend who was always ready to help. On October 7, Shachaf joined Kfar Aza’s local security team in fighting the Hamas invasion and was killed defending the kibbutz.
