Shahar Deborah Mathias, 47, was a singer and songwriter who lived in Kibbutz Holit with her husband Shlomi and their children. Music filled the family’s life, and just days before October 7 they had celebrated Shahar’s 50th birthday with family and song. When Hamas terrorists entered their home, Shahar and Shlomi used their bodies to shield their 16-year-old son Rotem. Both parents were murdered; Rotem was wounded by the bullet that passed through his mother but survived.
