Shir Eilat, 20, of Kfar Shmuel, was a commander of observation soldiers in the Border Defense Corps’s 414th unit and a natural leader who loved theater. When Hamas terrorists overran the Nahal Oz base on October 7, Shir stayed calm, cared for the soldiers around her and refused to abandon them. She was killed in the attack while remaining with her team until the end.
