Shamil Abasov, 33, of Beersheba, was an Israeli-Azerbaijani taxi driver, devoted father of two young daughters and an active member of Israel’s eFootball gaming community. Friends remembered his sharp sense of humor and the funny stories he always had to tell. On October 7, while driving two young women away from the Supernova music festival, Shamil encountered terrorists ambushing vehicles on the road. He warned his passengers to take cover before the gunmen opened fire and killed him. The two women survived, and his brother remembered that to his final moment Shamil was looking out for others.
