Shraga Hassid, 77, of Mazkeret Batya, was a devoted husband, father of four and grandfather of twelve whose life centered on family, work and public service. An agronomist trained at the Hebrew University, he managed a successful dairy farm before becoming an entrepreneur in industrial engineering equipment. Shraga was a pillar of his religious community and helped restore its historic Great Synagogue. He loved archaeology and Jewish history and was known for his suspenders, mustache, warm humor and Yiddish jokes. His family remembered a man of values and generosity who spent his life helping others.
