Syoma “Simon” Vigdergauz-Dovzhenko, 21, was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Israel with his family in 2014. Exceptionally curious from childhood, he loved reading, classical music and languages, excelled academically and practiced judo. He later served in the Border Police’s Yamas undercover unit and was considering a career in medicine, following his parents into healthcare. Simon met Margarita “Rita” Gusak during the Nativ military program, and the two became inseparable. They attended Nova together and were murdered while trying to escape. His parents remembered him as kind, peace-loving, thorough and endlessly optimistic.
