Sonthaya “Mos” Oakkharasri, 30, was an agricultural worker from northeastern Thailand and a devoted father. He came to Israel in 2018 hoping to earn money and build a better future for his family. He regularly sent money home and dreamed of returning to Thailand, where he had begun raising ducks and preparing for the next chapter of his life.
Sonthaya Oakkharasr, a Thai agricultural worker, was murdered during the terrorist attack on the Kibbutz Be’eri on October 7, 2023. His body was abducted to the Gaza Strip, where it was held in captivity until his return to Israel in accordance with the October 2025 agreement, on October 18, 2025. His is family was notified of his death on May 17, 2024, after a prolonged intelligence investigation. Sonthaya, the father of a seven-year-old daughter, would have celebrated his 31st birthday on May 17, 2024. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sends its sincere condolences to the family, the government and people of Thailand.
