Tal Cohen, 30, of Ganei Tal, was a commander in the elite Sayeret Matkal unit and a devoted father. When the Hamas attack began on October 7, Tal headed to the front without waiting to be called and joined eight other commandos entering Kibbutz Kfar Aza. Vastly outnumbered, they fought to rescue residents and repel the attackers. Tal was killed alongside three fellow officers.
