Valery Friedman, 60, of Sderot, immigrated to Israel from Uman, Ukraine, in 1991. In Ukraine he had worked as a teacher. After making aliyah, Valery and his family settled first in Dimona, where he worked in construction, and in the early 2000s he moved to Sderot and worked in several local factories. His family remembered him as modest, quiet and funny, as well as a loving father and grandfather. Valery was an avid soccer fan and had once been a table-tennis champion. He left behind three sons and two grandchildren.
