Vitaly, 50, immigrated to Israel from Russia with his family about 25 years before October 7. Friends described him as an “adopted uncle” to many people around him. He lived in Kibbutz Nir Oz with his wife Yelena; their son Sasha, Yelena, his mother-in-law and Sasha’s girlfriend were all abducted during the attack.
