Yaakov “Kobi” Shmaya, 47, of Beersheba, was a devoted husband, father and truck driver who was always first to help others. On October 7, his 19-year-old son Osher, an IDF soldier home on leave, decided he needed to return to his base near Re’im. Kobi drove him south. Hamas terrorists ambushed their car and murdered them both. Father and son were later found together in an embrace.
