Yigal Nissim Iluz, 56, of Ofakim, was a veteran police bomb sapper, husband, father and grandfather who was only months from retirement. During the October 7 invasion, Yigal turned back toward his home city and joined officers surrounding a house where residents were being held hostage. He was shot and killed by a Hamas sniper while helping secure the scene.
