Yona Fricker, 69, was born in Tel Aviv to Holocaust survivors and settled in Kibbutz Be’eri as a lone soldier in 1972. She spent many years working as a seamstress, loved colorful clothes, painting and her family, and was remembered as soft-spoken and always smiling. She shared the last two decades of her life with Mordechai Naveh, whom friends called her fellow “lovebird.” On October 7, Hamas terrorists murdered both in Be’eri. Yona was initially considered missing, and her body was identified about a month later.
