Ziv Shopen, 55, of Kibbutz Be’eri, was an air-conditioning technician, longtime kibbutz member and avid traveler who was always ready to help others. He was in Tel Aviv when the October 7 attack began but insisted on returning south to help defend his community. Unarmed, Ziv joined police officers entering Be’eri and guided them because he knew the kibbutz well. Their vehicles were ambushed by RPG and gunfire, and Ziv was killed alongside eight officers.
